SMTVP delegation calls on Director Archives

JAMMU, Jan 29: A delegation of Shri Martand Tirath Virsa Pratishthan (SMTVP) led by M. K. Yogi, a senior KP leader called on Kuldeep Sidha, Director Archives, Archaeology & Museums here, today.
The Pratishthan discussed the facelift and renovation work at the sacred Mattan Shrine, and for the timely submission of the Ground Reality Report on fish mortality at the holy Martand spring. The delegation said the letter to Chief Secretary, Government of Jammu Kashmir by the Department has drawn much-needed administrative attention to this sensitive issue in shortest possible time.

Yogi stated that Martand is not merely an archaeological monument but a living spiritual and cultural landscape, and the holy spring and its aquatic life are integral to its sacred identity. The transparent report has drawn much-needed administrative attention to environmental concerns at the site.
The delegation highlighted the need for scientific and technical measures to safeguard the Tirath and emphasized on the deployment of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) and robotic crawlers for monitoring and habitat management to study and protect aquatic environments.
It stressed on use of solar- or wind-powered aeration systems in enclosed water bodies to enhance oxygen levels and allow harmful gases to escape, while maintaining natural thermal balance.
Besides, the scientific study of vertical temperature stratification in the spring ecosystem, which influences oxygen distribution and aquatic life survival, to guide preservation strategies, ecosystem. The Pratishthan expressed hope that the Geology & Mining Department and other allied agencies would study the natural water channels of the holy spring.
Director K. K. Sidha who gave a patient hearing to the deputation assured all possible steps to preserve the religious sanctity and ecological balance of Tirath Raj Martand will be taken as and when required.
