Srinagar, Nov 14: Police today fined at least 1100 smokers for violating COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) puffing at public places and recovered at least n amount of Rs. 95000 from them.
A police spokesman said police today launched a drive to implement COTPA (Cigarette and Other Tobacco Products Act) in south Srinagar.
The drive was launched against smokers at public places like Bus Stops, offices, hospitals and educational institutions etc.
Meanwhile, SHO Police Station, Pattan, Mehboob, on Wednesday had also recovered Rs 10,000 as fine under COTPA from offenders who were found smoking and using tobacco products at public places in Pattan.
