JAMMU, Feb 10: SMGS Hospital, GMC Jammu has started painless labor facility for ladies and an awareness program was organized in this connection in the Hospital premises.
The labor pains, generally referred to as birth pangs, although are usually considered a part of birth process but our ladies have to suffer a lot of pain while giving birth to new born babies. However, modern medicine has made ‘giving birth’ a painless process now. SMGS Hospital now offers this facility to the ladies who wish to undergo painless delivery.
The Department of Anaesthesiology, Critical Care & Pain Medicine, GMC Jammu, in collaboration with the Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, under the aegis of ISA Jammu City Branch, successfully organized an awareness program on labor analgesia at the Gynae OPD Complex, SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
The campaign focused on the importance of labor analgesia in ensuring a painless normal delivery for expectant mothers. The program commenced with insightful addresses by Dr Ashutosh Gupta, Principal & Dean, GMC Jammu, followed by Dr Anita Vig, Professor & HoD Anaesthesia, Dr Rubina Mirza, Professor & In charge, Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and Dr Dara Singh, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital.
Dr Ashwani Kumar, president, ISA Jammu, delivered the welcome address, while Dr Updesh Kumar, general secretary, ISA Jammu Branch, educated pregnant women and the public on the significance of painless deliveries.
The event was attended by faculty members from Anaesthesia and Gynaecology departments, resident doctors, and paramedical staff.
During the program, Dr Ashutosh Gupta interacted with pregnant women, addressing their concerns and explaining the benefits of painless normal delivery.
Resident doctors from both departments performed a Nukkad Natak and a skit to enhance awareness about labor analgesia in an engaging manner.
