SMGS Hospital observes Childhood Cancer Day

JAMMU, Mar 19: Department of Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital Govt Medical College Jammu, in collaboration with CANKIDS, observed 15th International Childhood Cancer Day.
On this occasion,  a painting competition was organized for the children with cancer and a Play area for these children was inaugurated in Pediatric Cancer ward,  by the chief guest  Dr  Sunil Kotwal,  HoD Deptt  of ENT and president Medical Teachers Association, Dr  Dara Singh Med  Suptd  SMGS Hospital and Dr G S Saini, acting Head Deptt  of Pediatrics.
Speaking on this occasion Dr Sanjeev K Digra Associate Professor and consultant in charge Pediatric Cancer Ward, gave a brief account and achievements of Pediatric cancer ward and lauded the support extended by CANKIDS. He highlighted the fact that childhood cancer is different from the adulthood cancers and many of these are completely curable.
Dr  G S  Saini  encouraged the parents to avail the facilities being provided in the Pediatric cancer ward and to get their children treated.
Dr  Sunil Kotwal,  speaking on this occasion, stressed upon the importance of disseminating the awareness about childhood cancers and facilities available for its treatment so that it is diagnosed early and managed properly.
The dignitaries, on the occasion,  distributed prizes and gifts amongst the children with cancer and also  felicitated  Suruchi Sharma, Nancy,  Suraj Saraf and  Ajay Harnal for their contributions in betterment of Pediatric cancer ward.
Other Dignitaries,  present on the occasion, included  Dr  Minakshi Kotwal, Dr  Ashu Jamwal, Dr  Sunil Dutt Sharma, Dr  S S Slathia, Dr  Mohd Razaq, Dr  Javed Iqbal, Dr  Anuj Bhatti, Dr  Anil Suri, Dr  Mohan Lal Menia, Dr  Sonika Kanotra, Dr  Arun Gandotra, Dr  Koushal Khajuria and Dr  Ajay Chaudhary.
Dr  Rajesh Kaul conducted the proceedings.
