SMDA employees stage protest over pending wages

JAMMU, Dec 21: Employees of the Surinsar Mansar Development Authority (SMDA) today held a protest dharna at the Press Club of Jammu, demanding release of their long-pending wages and regularization of services.
The employees alleged that they have not been paid salaries since February 2013, causing severe financial hardship to them and their families.
The protest was organised under the banner of the Joint Action Committee (R).
Addressing the media, committee members said that despite working under the control of the SMDA, the employees continue to suffer due to the alleged indifferent attitude of the authorities.
They demanded immediate release of wages and salaries pending till date and regularization of all employees working in the department.
Those who addressed the media included Babu Husain Malik, G L Chandla, Kamla Sharma, Prabha Slathia, Manzoor Bhat, Lal Chand, Ludhar Singh, Raman Kumar, Daleep Kumar, Rajneesh Giri and Ravinder Singh.
The speakers warned that the agitation would be intensified if their demands are not met soon.
