JAMMU, July 2: Powergrid’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, in collaboration with Power Sector Skill Council and Protatech India, successfully conducted a special training program at Polyskill Private ITI Gurha Brahmana Akhnoor, Jammu.
The program provided vocational training to youth from Akhnoor’s rural areas in Smart Meter Installation Technician course.
This training program has emerged as a golden opportunity for employment for the youth as the companies installing smart meters in J&K require a large number of trained technicians.
During the three-month training period, Powergrid provided a monthly stipend to ensure that the trainees may not face any financial difficulties. After completing the training, an assessment was conducted by the Power Sector Skill Council. Center-in-charge Girish Parihar stated that the youth of Akhnoor are actively participating in this program, which will give a new direction to their careers.
