JAMMU, Sept 30: To commemorate the International day of Non-violence, the Office of the Chairman NSS Campus Units in collaboration with the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu organized Inter-departmental poster making and slogan writing competition on the theme ‘Non-violence Peace and Security” today.  More than 50 students from various departments of the University of Jammu participated in the two events.
Earlier Prof. Jasbir Singh, Chairman, NSS Campus Units apprised the participant about the theme and its importance. He highlighted the relevance of Gandhian Philosophy in the present time.
Addressing the participants, Prof.V.D.Singh, Director, DDE, University of Jammu and chief guest of the occasion, appreciated the office of the Chairman, NSS Unit for organizing such events and the continuous efforts they make in making the events a success.
Prof.P.K.Srivastav, Dean Students Welfare also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Vishav Raksha, Programme Coordinator, NSS, University of Jammu, highlighted the role of NSS in organizing such events and focused on the features and working of NSS as a unit.
First, second, and third prizes in slogan writing competition were secured by Diksha Sharma of P.G. English (DDE), Rubia Sharma of Dept. of Law and Shivani Bandral of P.G. Hindi (DDE). Pankhuri Aggarwal of Dept of English and Shivani Verma, P.G. Hindi (DDE) won the certificates of Merit.
Dr. Dharmender Mangotra and Dr. Sandhya Bhardawaj were the judges for the event.
In the Poster making Competition Parshotama Sharma of Law School, bagged the first position, while Aditi Khajuria of P.G. English, DDE and Gudia Sharma of Dept. of Home science, secured the second and third position respectively. Certificates of merit were given to Neha Bajal Dept. of Home science and Pankhuri Aggarwal Dept of English, Prof Anita Billoria, and Dr. Sanjay Sharma, were the judges for the event.
Among others, present on the occasion, were Dr. Darshana Sharma, Dr. Rohini Gupta Suri, Dr. Raj Kumar, Dr. Seema Bhasin and Dr. Niharica Subhash.
