JAMMU, Aug 26 : Minister for Industries and Commerce, S S. Slathia, today announced Rs 10 lakh for construction of Community Facility Centre at Chowni in Vijaypur constituency.
Addressing a public meeting in the village, the Minister asked the people to identify a suitable land for construction of the facility which was a long pending demand of the locals. He also announced Rs 2 lakh for construction of ladies toilet directing the executing agencies to ensure its completion at the earliest.
The Minister instructed the officers to speed up construction of Shamshan Ghat Road and School Road in Chowni village for timely completion of this vital facility which will ease hardships of people of various adjoining villages as well. He also asked the concerned officers to take up the construction of remaining lanes and drains in the village at the earliest.
Responding to people’s demand for better power and water supply, the Minister said that a number of measures are being taken up at all levels to ensure that people of the state would get adequate supply power and water.
He also sought people’s cooperation in maintaining such services in a more organised manner. He also exhorted upon the people to ensure judicious use of all public utilities especially water and electricity so that they may not have to face any inconvenience in this regard.
Spelling out measures being taken up by the Government to steer the state towards a progress, the Minister said that during the past over three years massive development and welfare programmes have been launched in the state with special emphasis on rural, border and far off pockets. He said that the development registered in all fronts have become possible only due to the cooperation of the people and hoped that they will continue their strong support to the present dispensation to further move forward the development tempo of the state with added zeal and dedication.
