JAMMU, Jan 25: The Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu), Dr B N Tripathi, along with the Director Extension, SKUAST-Jammu, Dr Amrish Vaid, today visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kathua to review the ongoing extension activities and infrastructure development works being executed under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), ARYA and NICRA projects.
The visit aimed to assess the progress of various initiatives focused on strengthening agricultural growth, improving farmers’ income, and enhancing technology dissemination at the grassroots level.
During the visit, Dr B N Tripathi inspected various functional units of KVK Kathua and took a comprehensive review of the farmer-oriented activities, including training programmes, on-farm trials, frontline demonstrations, and extension interventions being implemented in the district. He interacted with the scientists and staff members to evaluate the impact of these activities on the farming community and emphasized the need for result-oriented, location-specific, and demand-driven programmes in line with the objectives of HADP.
The Vice Chancellor, accompanied by Director Extension Dr Amrish Vaid, also reviewed the progress of infrastructure development works sanctioned under HADP, including the upgradation of training halls, demonstration units, laboratories, and other essential facilities.
Dr Amrish Vaid emphasized strengthening extension-farmer linkages, intensifying field-level interventions, and improving outreach through convergence with allied departments.
The Vice Chancellor reiterated the commitment of SKUAST-Jammu to empower KVKs with necessary support to translate research outputs into field-level solutions.
The visit concluded with a detailed discussion on future strategies, inter-departmental convergence, and a roadmap for achieving the targeted goals under HADP for holistic and inclusive agricultural development in Kathua district.
