JAMMU, Sept 29: Highlighting their demands, Under Graduate students of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agriculture Science and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu today held a strong protest demonstration outside the Main Campus Chatha.
They were demanding proper sanitation on the campus, bus service for ferrying the students, provision of re-evaluation and checking of examination papers and establishment of a SKUAST-J Students Federation to provide them a recognized forum for highlighting their issues.
Carrying banners and placard, the protesting students raised slogans in support of their demands and blocked the Campus entrance. They kept the Campus main gate closed for more than an hour and blocked the entrance by putting burning tyres on the road.
The protesting students, including girls, were also addressed by some of their leaders, who accused the University administration of adopting a callous approach towards their genuine issues. They also warned to launch a vigorous stir if the University does not concede their demands.
Those who addressed the protesting students, included Gurvinder Singh, Divyansh Sharma, Ali Haider, Shreya and Bushra Khan.
After the protest demonstration, students met the University authorities, who assured to look into their demands by October 5.
