SKUAST-J Fruit Science team brings laurels with award-winning stall

JAMMU, Feb 14: The Division of Fruit Science, SKUAST-Jammu, under the leadership of Dr Parshant Bakshi, Head of the Division, secured the First Prize for Stall at the Agriculture Summit and Kisan Mela 2026 held from 11-13 February.
The award was presented by Dr B N Tripathi, Vice Chancellor and chief guest of the valedictory function, in the presence of Dr Ritesh Sharma, Taranjit Singh, Dr Amrish Vaid, Director Extension, Dr S K Gupta, Director Research, statutory officers of the university, Heads of Divisions, students, and progressive farmers.
The delightful preparation and serving of Nawabi Rasmalai and Chatkara Guava attracted wide appreciation from visitors, while the students’ elegant stone-painting artwork added a distinctive cultural and creative dimension to the stall. Carefully curated exhibits, innovative presentations, and meaningful farmer- and student-centric interactions during the Fruit Show highlighted the Division’s academic strength, scientific excellence, and vibrant extension outreach.
Dr Bakshi also delivered an informative talk during the Kisan Goshti on organic production of fruit crops in Dogri language, motivating orchardists to adopt organic and natural farming practices.
The wholehearted participation of students, guided by the able mentorship of Dr Kiran Kour and Neharika Pandita, was highly commendable. The meticulous coordination of the Fruit Show by Dr Amit Jasrotia and Dr Deep Ji Bhat got special appreciation for professionalism and attention to detail. Valuable support in the beautification and organization of the stall was also extended by Dr Arti Sharma, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Dr Akash Sharma (Professors), and staff members Vinod Kumar Bhat (FCLA), Kewal Swaroop, and Rampal.
