JAMMU, Oct 6: Agromete-orology Section of the Sher-e-Kashmir University of Science and Technology (SKUAST) Jammu organized field day programme on “Weather Manag-ement in Farm Operations”, here today.
The programme was organized at Research Farm of SKUAST Jammu, under National Innovation on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA-AICRPAM) Project, sponsored by CRIDA (ICAR), Hyderabad, under the guidance of Prof J P Sharma, Director Research, SKUAST-J.
Dr Mahender Singh, P I of the project, briefed about the importance of the field day and weather observations and forecasting in relation to various farm operations during the visit to Agrometeorology Observatory.
During Field day programme, farmers also visited Integrated Farming System Model, Mushroom Centre, Mega Seed Processing Plant and Technology Park of SKUAST-J.
Dr B C Sharma, Head of Agronomy, exhibited latest technologies developed by the SKUAST-J for kharif crops. During the field visit to AICRP-Weed Management, Dr B R Bazaya and Dr R Puniya demonstrated the latest weed management techniques in direct seeded rice. Dr Sachin Gupta and Dr Vijay Khajuria explained integrated farming system model for marginal farmers to get maximum profit. Dr Vishal Raina displayed seed processing unit and explained farmers about quality seed production of different crops. Dr Charu Sharma, SRF, AICRPAM-NICRA presented the vote of thanks to the participants.
In this programme, farmers from NICRA adopted villages, viz, Sherpur and Chhapaki, participated.
