UDHAMPUR, Aug 11: The Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy (SKPA) Udhampur has started a three-day training programme on investigation of murder and homicide cases to enhance the skills of Jammu and Kashmir Police officers in handling complex investigations.
A statement said eighteen officers from different wings of the force are attending the course, which focuses on crime scene examination, forensic evidence collection, FIR drafting, the role of autopsies, and medico-legal aspects of deaths caused by burning, poisoning and asphyxia.
It said the programme also covers DNA evidence handling, fingerprint analysis, and legal procedures related to homicide cases.
Faculty from SKPA and the Forensic Science Laboratory are delivering expert lectures during the programme, the statement said.
SSP and Deputy Director (Indoor) Rajinder Kumar Gupta presided over the inaugural session today, highlighting the need for accuracy and thoroughness in homicide investigations.
Pertinently, the course is being coordinated by Senior PO Chanderlekha with assistance from ASI Rajinder Singh.
