SKIMS to establish HDUs in wards, ICUs

Srinagar, July 16: The Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has initiated the process of establishing High Dependency Units (HDUs) in all wards and Intensive Care Units (ICUs) of the institute.
In this regard, the Director SKIMS has constituted a six-member committee to coordinate with the Materials Management Department for the establishment of the HDUs.
As per a directive, the committee has been tasked to visit the concerned areas and assess the equipment already installed at the sites.
“After making a proper assessment, a list of equipment(s) will be prepared by them; The Committee shall work out the specifications for necessary equipment(s) and accordingly function as Technical Committee for all equipment(s) needed.”
The committee has also been tasked with supervising the installation of equipment, conducting periodic site visits, and offering suggestions for improvement.
“The Committee shall be empowered to co-opt any other expert/member as and when required for technical or administrative advice. It will submit the report on a case to case basis to the undersigned for further necessary action.”
The committee will be headed by the Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, with the Head of Anesthesiology, Head of General Surgery, Head of General Medicine, Head of Critical Care Medicine, and the Materials Management Officer (Imports) as members.
