SRINAGAR, July 18: Sher e Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura today issued the summer vacation roster for faculty members, instructing the Heads of Departments to ensure patient care and academic activities continue uninterrupted during the period.
It has also been stated that those who proceed on vacation can be called back if required in case of any eventuality, directing them to intimate their immediate contact details.
In this regard, the Director, SKIMS Soura, has sanctioned availing of summer vacation by the faculty members of SKIMS across 36 departments with terms and conditions.
As per the directives it has been stated that 50% faculty staff must remain available during each half of the vacation period and one senior faculty member must also remain available in the respective departments during each half wherever possible.
It has been noted that faculty members intending to forgo vacations will be entitled to earned leave proportionately 2½ days for a week, and no earned leave will be credited in case the forgone vacation period is less than a week.
“HODs of respective departments shall ensure normal patient care services and academic activities of the department during vacation,” the directives state.
Further, it has been stressed that the faculty members will not be allowed to participate in the conferences during on duty vacation period, while the station leaving permission will be restricted “within the country only.”
Also, the faculty members proceeding for vacation have been asked to intimate their immediate contact details through their departure reports addressed to the Administration to meet any eventuality of emergency, particularly or otherwise “so that faculty staff on vacation could be called back to duty any moment in case of emergencies and if need arises.”
SKIMS had earlier announced that the summer vacation for faculty members would be split into two halves.
Departments were asked to submit details of who wished to take leave in the first half and who in the second, ensuring that at least 50% of the faculty remained on duty at all times. After receiving these details, SKIMS issued a vacation roster.
The roster lists the faculty members taking leave from 16 July to 29 July 2025, those scheduled for leave from 1 August to 14 August 2025, and also names-including the Director-of those who will remain on duty during both periods.
