Srinagar, Sept 5: Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, has flagged delays in the submission of send-up results by some of its departments, leading to hurdles in the smooth conduct of MBBS examinations.
In a communication issued in this regard, it has been stated that the Deemed University, SKIMS Srinagar, is facing “considerable challenges” in the smooth conduct of MBBS examinations due to delays in the submission of Cumulative Attendance and Internal Assessment Results.
It has been pointed out that, as per University norms, the theory date sheet for MBBS examinations is required to be issued at least two months prior to the commencement of examinations.
This advance issuance, the communication stated, ensures timely completion of all prerequisite formalities, including the conduct of Internal Assessment (Send-up) Examinations and submission of results, as well as the preparation and submission of Cumulative Annual Attendance (%) of students.
“These documents must be submitted to the University at least 20 days before the commencement of examinations, enabling the University to undertake essential preparatory tasks.”
The preparatory tasks listed include preparation of eligibility/ineligibility lists, allotment of examination roll numbers, preparation of attendance sheets, and preparation and issuance of admit cards.
“It has been observed that some departments are not adhering to these timelines, resulting in serious administrative difficulties and delays in crucial examination-related processes, thereby causing inconvenience,” the communication stated.
To address the issue and ensure smooth conduct, the Heads of Departments (HODs) have been advised to conduct Internal Assessment (Send-up) examinations within the prescribed schedule and forward the results to the University without delay.
“Submit the Cumulative Annual Attendance of students strictly within the stipulated time.”
The communication also noted that, as per the Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME) Regulations of the National Medical Commission (NMC), there is no provision for the institution to “grant any relaxation” falling short of the required percentage of attendance.
“Strict adherence to these timelines is essential for the smooth and timely conduct of MBBS examinations and to avoid last-minute difficulties.”
