Skiing camp concludes at Gulmarg; Mir distributes certificates among trainees

Srinagar, Jan 28: The 15 day skiing training course organized by Jammu and Kashmir Cable Car Corporation at Gulmarg concluded today.
During the camp over 50 students of various educational institutions of the state were imparted skiing trainings by world fame skiers.
Minister for Tourism, Ghulam Ahmad Mir was the chief guest at the concluding function. He distributed the certificates among the participant trainees and hailed the initiative of Cable Car Corporation for providing a platform to the youth of the State for getting trainings in the famous adventure sports. He said such trainings would prove beneficial to the youth interested to make name in this high profile sports.
He said that Kashmir is the best tourism destination for all seasons and Gulmarg has all the facilities of global winter sport destinations and events like skiing, heli-skiing etc besides other winter sports activities being held there are giving further boost to local economy.
The Minister said that Gondola and chairlifts are essential components of winter sports in Gulmarg. “Without these facilities  nothing will work out” he said and added that State Government is keen to create more  facilities to attract high end tourists. He underscored the need for organizing more such camps in future and directed concerned authorities to take due care of the visiting tourists.
District Development Commissioner, Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Director Tourism, Kashmir, Mr. Talat Parvez, Managing Director Cable Car Corporation, Tafail Matto besides other senior officers of concerned Departments was present on the occasion.
