SJSC gives scholarship approval letter to student for studies abroad

JAMMU, Jan 18: Social Justice Standing Committee (SJSC) of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today handed over scholarship approval letter for Rs. 70 lakh by Central Government to a student Happy Basan of Satwari here for pursuing studies abroad.
A handout of JMC stated that more funds of scholarship will be released in future totaling it to Rs. 1 crore under National Overseas Scholarship Scheme for perusal of higher education in abroad.
The approval letter was handed over to Basan by SJSC Chairman, Jeet Kumar Angral in the presence of other SJSC members-Councilors Tripta Devi, Ritu Choudhary, Rama, Sham Lal, Ajay Gupta, Kuldeep Singh and Subhash Sharma along with JMC officials-Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Sudhir Bali, Revenue Officer, Ashwani Sudan and S.K Gupta, Sr. Law Officer JMC.
While presenting the approval letter SJSC Chairman hoped Basan will continue his studies with dedication and bring laurel to the country.
He said that Happy is the only candidate from J&K to receive this scholarship and hailed PM, Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, Thawar Chand Gehlot for working to uplift the weaker section of society and providing them facilities and benefits to bring quality in their life.
