JAMMU, Feb 14: Police today claimed to have arrested six individuals from different areas of the Jammu district and recovered over 43 grams of heroin-like substance from their possession.
In RS Pura area, a police team led by ASI Sheetal Kumar, incharge Border Police Post Diwangarh, under the supervision of SHO RS Pura, Inspector RS Parihar, recovered 24.86 grams of heroin-like substance along with an electronic weighing machine from a motorcycle rider at a naka laid at Dablehar.
The accused has been identified as Mohammad Mansha, a resident of Harsa Dabber, Tehsil Bishnah.
Police have booked him in case FIR number 35/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station RS Pura and started further investigation into the matter. The motorcycle used in the crime has also been seized.
In another operation, a team from Bishnah Police Station led by incharge SHO Deepak Thakur, conducted a special drive at Neelam Palace, Bhatyari, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate.
During the operation, four persons were apprehended and 10.62 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Manjeet Singh, Vikram Singh, Vishal Singh and Rahul Sharma, all residents of Akhnoor.
The contraband was seized on the spot following legal formalities and a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bishnah, with further investigation set into motion to trace the source and linkages of the recovered substance.
Meanwhile, in the Bakshi Nagar area, a patrolling party from Police Post GMC led by Incharge Police Post concerned, PSI Hardev Singh apprehended one person near Resham Ghar Colony close to the Super Specialty Hospital and recovered 8 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.
The accused, identified as Sonu Kumar, a resident of Mazdoor Basti, Bakshi Nagar, has been arrested and a case FIR No. 17/2026 under sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him at Police Station Bakshi Nagar.
Police said efforts are on to identify forward and backward linkages in the case.
