JAMMU, Jan 5: Six individuals were arrested for gambling within the premises of Kleeth Park under the jurisdiction of Police Station City here, officials said.
Acting on specific intelligence, a team of Police Post Hari Market, led by incharge Police Post Hari Market, GC Thappa under the supervision of SHO City, Inspector Shakti Sharma, carried out a well-coordinated raid at Kleeth Park on Sunday and caught six individuals red-handed while gambling, a police official said.
The accused, identified as Farooq Ahmed of Bemina, Zahoor Ahmed of Saraf Kadal, Irfan Ahmed of Anantnag, Ghulam Mohammad of Safa Kadal, Rouf Ahmed Khan of Lal Bazar and Jameel Ahmed of Kupwara, were arrested on-the-spot and booked under section 13 of the Gambling Act, he said.
During the operation, the police official said, the police team also seized a cash amount of Rs 32000 stake money along with other gambling material.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway to ascertain any wider links in the case, added the police official.
