JAMMU, July 19: Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested six individuals after a video surfaced on social media showing a group of people brandishing sharp-edged weapons and lathis while dancing on the Ring Road in the Kanachak area of Jammu.
Police have also booked the accused in case FIR number 104/2025 at Police Station Kanachak under section 191(2), (3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and 4/25 Arms Act for unlawful possession of weapons and disturbing public order.
A police official said that acting on a viral video, police teams from Incharge BPP Sandwan and Incharge BPP Gajansoo, along with Kanachak Police Station, carried out multiple raids under the supervision of SDPO Domana and SP Rural Jammu.
Accordingly, he said, the police teams arrested six accused who were found involved in the incident. They were identified as Mohammad Akram alias Bachu of Sanasar at present Rajpura, tehsil and district Jammu, Mohammad Ameer Monu of Ramban at present Rajpura, Mushtaq Ahmad alias Billa of Patnitop at present Rajpura, Mohammad Maneer alias Ballu of Dub Karam Din Tehsil Marh District Jammu, and Sahil Sharma and Nikhil Nandan, both residents of Chatha Gujjran.
During the raids, police also recovered two sharp-edged weapons, several lathis, and seized a Tata Mobile vehicle used in the act, the police official said.
Meanwhile, further investigation into the matter is going on to apprehend other absconding individuals.
Further, in a statement, Jammu and Kashmir Police have warned people against indulging in such illegal and provocative activities and stated that strict legal action will be taken against anyone disturbing public order.
