BHADERWAH, Sept 25: A Forest Department team from Bhaderwah Forest Division today organised a raid in Kellar Range and seized six large scants of newly felled Deodar trees.
The team led by DFO Bhaderwah, T B Singh assisted by some field staff acting on a specific information, conducted raid in compartment No. 23 of Kellar Range of Bhaderwah Forest Division today and recovered six scants of Deodar. One Rajinder Kumar of Khelani who was engaged in this illegal activity fled the spot along with two other locals leaving behind an axe and small saw.
The Forest team seized timber and shifted it to Bhaderwah depot while a manhunt was launched to trace and arrest the accused persons. They have been booked under Forest Act.
