KATRA, Jan 1: Police foiled an attempt of bovine smuggling at Kakryal and rescued six animals.
During the intervening night of December 31 and January 1, one Tata Load Carrier having registration number JK19A-5279 coming from Maghal side towards Udhampur was signalled to stop for checking at Sool naka of Police Post Kakryal. However, the vehicle dodged naka and turned back towards Maghal Katra and tried to flee. It was chased by officials of Police Post Kakryal and intercepted, but taking benefit of the darkness, the driver fled away leaving the vehicle on road.
Upon checking, the vehicle was found loaded with 6 buffaloes (bovine animals) tied in cruel manner. Police rescued the animals and seized the vehicle.
A case has been registered in this connection under relevant sections of law. The action was taken by SI Akhilesh Khajuria, Incharge Police Post Kakryal.
