UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: Police foiled two separate attempts of bovine smuggling and rescued six bovines besides arresting the accused persons.
Police team of PP Sudhmahadev, during routine patrolling duty, received reliable information that a person namely Mohd Latif , son of Mohd Shafi, resident of Kutwalt, was taking four bovine animals on foot from Mantalai Kossar towards Kashmir Valley via Garsoli.
Upon this, a police party immediately rushed towards the said location. At Gau Karan, the accused tried to flee after spotting the police party but was apprehended on the spot.
In this regard, a case under FIR number 104/2025 u/s 223 BNS and 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Chenani. The accused has been arrested and the bovine animals have been rescued by the police.
Another bovine smuggling attempt was foiled when team of Police Station Chenani rescued two bovines, which were being smuggled in a vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-0848. Driver of the vehicle, namely Tariq Ahmed Sohil, son of Ghulam Mohd, resident of Banihal, Ramban was arrested on the spot.
In this regards, case FIR No. 105/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Chenani.
