NEW DELHI, Dec 8: Delhi Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa who was in Amritsar on Monday expressed displeasure upon learning that the Punjab government is allegedly not providing any funds for the upkeep of the Valmiki Temple in the city.
Taking to social media platform X, Sirsa stated that, “I was deeply saddened to learn that the Punjab government is not providing any funds for the Valmiki Temple.”
He also expressed concerns over salaries not being disbursed to those persons, also part of the Valmiki community, involved in helping out to clean and maintain the temple premises.
Sirsa has said that the matter is related to the religious, as well as social sentiments, and that he is hopeful that the state government will address the issue soon enough.
The minister said that back in the day, when the said temple was inaugurated, he himself was present on the occasion, and looking at the present situation makes him sad.
Meanhwile, Sirsa also shared a couplet, stating “Ja par kripa Ram ki hoi, Ta par kripa karahim sab koi,” which means ‘If there is the grace of Lord Rama upon someone, Then everyone showers their grace upon that person too.”
He shared that on Monday he had the good fortune to visit Lord Ram Tirath (the pilgrimage site of Lord Valmiki) located in Amritsar, along with the Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and all his fellow members of the Delhi cabinet, and to have darshan of Lord Ram and Maharishi Valmiki.
Sharing about the temple’s importance, Sirsa said that this is the very historic site where Maharishi Valmiki’s ashram was located, and it was here that Lav and Kush were born(Lord Ram’s children).
Sirsa sadi that the Ram Tirath site is also a symbol of Amritsar’s cultural heritage from a religious and spiritual perspective.
Here, one can witness a wonderful confluence of faith in Sanatan Dharma, Sikh traditions, and historical culture, he added.
“All members of the Cabinet bowed down at the Lord’s feet and prayed that his grace may always remain upon Delhi, Punjab, and the entire country,” the minister added.
