JAMMU, Aug 1: Chairman of the Sikh United Front, Sudershan Singh Wazir today declared that Sikh Sangat of the State and other people in general shall accord grand reception to the ‘International Nagar Kirtan’ entering J&K on August 4, 2019 from Lakhanpur.
While addressing a joint press conference of various Sikh religious bodies here today, Wazir said that it is an occasion of great religious importance that this Nagar Kirtan which is starting from Nankana Sahib, birth place of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji on 1st of August, will be entering J&K on 4th of August on the occasion of 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji.
Wazir further elaborated that the present living generation is truly blessed as it is during their lifetime that 550th birth anniversary of Baba Nanak is being celebrated and they should whole heartedly submit themselves to the Sikh philosophy espoused by the first Guru. To show their respects and commitment to the path shown by Guru ji, Sikhs in particular and others in general should line up from Lakhanpur to Jammu National Highway and welcome the international Nagar Kirtan with all religious fervour.
He expressed gratitude on behalf of all the Sikh organizations J&K to Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib, Poonch for leading the religious celebrations in the state throughout the year till the month of November on this Holy occasion of celebrations of 550th birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Nanak Dev Ji . Wazir informed that Mahant Manjeet Singh Ji has chalked out various religious functions starting from Poonch, Noushera, Udhampur, Jammu, Kathua, Batote and various districts of Kashmir during the coming months details of which shall be announced very soon.
All the organizations present during the press conference made a passionate appeal to everyone irrespective of their faith to participate in these celebrations till November, 2019.
