SIF reiterates demand of Punjabi as official language

JAMMU, Sept 6: All J&K1947 POJK Sharnarthi Intellectual Forum (SIF) today in a statement reiterated the demand of approval of Punjabi language as an official language in J&K UT. Forum president, Amrik Singh appealed the Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to reconsider the earlier decision and include Punjabi as an official language like Hindi; English Dogri and Kashmiri. While elaborating Amrik Singh said that Punjabi is not related with any particular religion it is the language of every person of Northern India and almost more than 70% Northern Indians speak Punjabi.
He also urged upon all local organisations and NGOs irrespective of cast creed to insist this burning issue on their respective platforms in a very peaceful and democratic way and not to give chance to anti national elements to exploit this issue in a wrong way. Singh also urged upon the Union HRD Minister to issue a separate circulator in this regard for the best interest of justice with Punjabi language.
Surjit Singh, general secretary of the Forum complimented to Sukhbir Singh Badal president of Shiromani Akali Dal, Govind Singh Longowal, president Shiromani Gurdawara Parbandhak Committee Amritsar; Sukhminder Singh Grewal, president All India Kissan Sabha, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, president Delhi Sikh Gurdawara Management Committee and Bhagwant Maan member Parliament for taking this sensitive issue seriously with Union Government and UT.
