JAMMU, June 6: Police today arrested four alleged drug peddlers, two of them real brothers, from Nagrota and Bishnah areas with 30.36 grams of heroin-like substance.
A police official said that in one of the operations, two drug peddlers, identified as Mohammad Tariq of Battal Ballian, Udhampur, and Yash Paul of Tikri, Udhampur, were arrested by a party of police post Sidhra under the jurisdiction of Police Station Nagrota with 9.10 grams of heroin-like-substance from Sidhra Bridge area.
He said an Alto car (JK14A-8575) used to transport the consignment has also been seized.
Accordingly, the accused were booked in case FIR number 126/2025 under sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Nagrota, he said.
According to the police official, the arrest and seizure was made by a team led by PSI Neeraj Parihar, incharge police post Sidhra.
In another operation, the police official said, a team of Police Station Bishnah, led by Inspector Sushil Choudhary, SHO Bishnah under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura, and SP Headquarters Jammu, arrested two real brothers identified as Chander Kumar and Gulshan Kumar, both residents of Mehmoodpur, Bishnah with 21.26 grams of heroin-like-substance.
While Chander Kumar was arrested with 10.28 grams of the heroin-like-substance during investigation of a case FIR number 52/2025 under sections 8, 21, 22, and 29 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Bishnah, his brother, Gulshan Kumar, was arrested with 10.98 grams of the consignment in a follow up operation, he said.
“Both individuals were apprehended at Jinder Khurd area as part of the ongoing efforts of the police to curb the drug menace in the region,” added the police official.
Further investigations in both the cases are underway, he said.
