Srinagar, Sept 9: The State Investigation Agency (SIA) has announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh for those providing information leading to the arrest of the persons involved in the killing of Advocate Babar Qadri.
”A cash reward of Rs 10,00000 is announced for those providing information leading to the arrest of the persons involved in the killing of Senior Advocate of J&K High Court Late Babar Qadri S/o Mohd Yasin Qadri R/o Zahidpora, Hawal, Srinagar who was killed by terrorists on 24.09.2020 at his residence,” read the SIA notice.
“The identity of the informer shall be kept highly confidential. Those having any information can contact us at the Mobile/WhatsApp/Telegram/Signal number 9103998467,” it said.
“A Case FIR No 62/2020 U/S 302 IPC 7/27 IAA 13/16/18/20/39 UA PA was registered at Police Station Lalbazar Srinagar, now SIA Kashmir,” read the notice issued by Chief Investigation Officer SIT, SIA Kashmir.
Babar was shot dead in September 2020 at his residence in Srinagar. Police had set up a five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the killing.
In August 2021, the SIT filed charges against five suspects. When security forces eliminated Abbas Shiekh, chief commander of The Resistance Front (TRF) and his deputy Saqib Manzoor, in September last year, the Kashmir Police underlined that Saqib Manzoor was also involved in Qadri’s murder.
Police last year conducted searches at the residence and office of three lawyers including former J&K High Court Bar Association (JKHBA) president Mian Qayoom in connection with Qadri’s murder. The other two lawyers were Manzoor Dar and Muzaffar Ahmad.
