DODA, July 15: Members of particular community observed complete shutdown against the atrocities of security forces and continuous killings of civilians in Kashmir.
The shops and other business establishments of particular community remained closed at all the major towns of District Doda including Bhaderwah, Doda, Thathri, Gath and Gandoh. However, traffic plied on the roads normally. Government offices and banks also remained open.
The bandh call against the Coalition Government for their alleged atrocities in Kashmir valley against civilians for last more than one week was given by Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah, Seerat Committee Doda, Anjuman Islamia Gandoh, Markazi Majlis-e-Shoura Kishtwar and Masjid Committee Thathri.
“The atrocities against civilians by the security forces are increasing with each passing day. It seems that the Coalition Government is on a killing spray and Chief Minister is sprinkling salt on the wounds by shedding crocodile tears”, said Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah President Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh.
He added that to show solidarity with the suffering Kashmiri brethern and to lodge strong protest against the pathetic attitude of Government and inhuman acts of security forces, they called for a peaceful bandh.
Meanwhile, after Friday prayers people also held a strong protest rally, which after passing through various markets culminated outside the Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah.
As precautionary measure, extra security deployment of para military forces, JKP and JKAP was made in all major parts of Chenab valley but bandh passed off peacefully and no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.
