KARGIL, Jan 30 : On the occasion of the 34th National Good Governance Webinar, former Deputy Commissioner of Kargil, Shrikant Suse, currently serving as Deputy Commissioner, Kupwara (Jammu & Kashmir)—delivered a presentation as an awardee under the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration 2023 on behalf of Kargil District.
The presentation was virtually made from Kupwara before officials of the Ministry and senior officers and District Magistrates from various States and Union Territories across the country/. From Kargil, the webinar was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Imteeaz Kacho and other district officials.
During his presentation, Shrikant Suse highlighted that Kargil is one of the two districts in the Union Territory of Ladakh, known for its scenic landscape and status as the second-largest town in the region. He underlined the District’s notable progress in improving the quality of life of its residents through focused and inclusive Government interventions.
The flagship schemes implemented in the district viz. PM SVANidhi, which supports street vendors, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U) for urban housing and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) aimed at enhancing access to healthcare were highlighted.
These schemes have reportedly achieved saturation levels exceeding 90 per cent, reflecting the administration’s sustained efforts to improve urban living standards and healthcare accessibility.
The presentation further highlighted that the District Administration established dedicated task forces for major schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), PMJAY and PMAY, conducted regular audits, and implemented transparent grievance redressal mechanisms. Digitisation of records streamlined data management, reduced errors, and minimised corruption risks.
Robust monitoring systems were put in place through regular performance assessments and citizen feedback mechanisms, it was added. Training programmes emphasising ethical conduct and compliance were conducted, supported by digital platforms to ensure accurate data reporting.
