JAMMU, Aug 20: Taking cognizance of social media reports, ARTO Doda has issued show-cause notice to MLA Doda, Mehraj Malik for alleged violation of Motor Vehicle Act norms while driving a vehicle.

As per the show cause notice, intimations were received from social media platform along with details of offence while driving vehicle bearing registration number JKOGA-8336 on dated -07-06-2025 and JK06C-5011 on dated 18-08-2025 by the holder of licence number JK06 20240000563 which is punishable under Motor vehicles Act 1988 amended in 2019.
As per the records, the driving license number JK06 20240000563 had been issued to Mehraj Din, son of Shammas Ud-Din.
As per the Road Safety Committee appointed by Supreme Court , suspension of the license for a period of not less than 03 months is recommended for the offence made under section 19 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, read with rule 21 of CMVR 1989 and section 194-D of Motor Vehicle Act 1988.
Quoting these rules, ARTO Doda, Abrar Ahmed Kripak, has sought explanation of Mehraj Din as to why his driving license should not be disqualified under section 19(1)(D) & (F) of Motor Vehicles Act 1988 and the relevant rules made there under for a period not less than three months, in compliance of the directions of Supreme Court Committee on road safety
“The reply must reach the undersigned within 10 days from the date of receipt of this letter, failing which ex parte decision will be taken accordingly,” read the notice.
