Anantnag, June 16: Militants tonight killed Personal Security Officer (PSO) of Station House Officer (SHO) Bijbehara in the market near Police Station here in Anantnag district of South Kashmir.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), South Kashmir, Nitish Kumar told Excelsior, that militants fired at and killed a police constable who was making some purchases at a shop near Police Station Bijbehara.
This incident happened at around 9.25 pm when the militant fired at the constable from point blank range. The cop was left in a pool of blood and militant managed to flee.
The cop has been identified as Arif Ahmad (belt no. 1922/A), a resident of Safakadal, Srinagar.
Police and Army launched searches to nab the assailants. However, no one was arrested.
