SRINAGAR, Apr 17: Militants this evening shot at and critically injured a shopkeeper in South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
A police official said that militants this evening fired at a shopkeeper, Khursheed Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Rehman Lone resident of Heff in Zainapora area of Shopian outside his shop.
Police immediately rushed to the spot and Lone was shifted to District Hospital Shopian for treatment. He was later shifted to Srinagar for specialized treatment. Police said that he has received bullets in lower abdomen and his condition was critical.
Senior police and security force officials rushed to the spot to assess the situation. However, militants had run away from the spot after firing at him and leaving him in a pool of blood. Police, CRPF and Army conducted searches in the adjacent areas for the militants who fired at the shopkeeper but no one was arrested.
