*Gambling den busted; 2 vehicle lifters nabbed

JAMMU, Aug 8: Janipur Police arrested a shopkeeper along with 100 rolls of dreaded Chinese thread and also busted a gambling den, whereas Bakshi Nagar Police nabbed two vehicle lifters.
As per police sources, on specific information a team from Police Station Janipur conducted raid in a shop at Paloura and seized 100 rolls of dreaded Chinese thread (gattu).
The shopkeeper identified as Suraj Kumar, son of Harbans Lal of Sarwal was arrested on the spot.
It is pertinent to mention here that District Magistrate Jammu has imposed a blanket ban on the sale of nylon and synthetic threads in Jammu in view of forthcoming kite festivals.
A case FIR Number 90/2021 under Section 188 IPC has been registered against the shopkeeper at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
Meanwhile, on reliable information, a team from Police Station Janipur conducted raid in a house and busted a gambling den with the arrest of five persons along with stake money of Rs 50,220 and playing cards.
The arrested persons were identified as Vijay Kumar (house owner), son of late Krishan Lal of Janipur, Rakesh Gupta, son of Buti Ram Gupta of Talab Tillo, Om Parkash, son of late Dharam Chand of Talab Tillo, Prem Nath, son of late Shiv Ram of Talab Tillo and Gopal Dass, son of late Kartar Chand of Rani Talab Digana.
A case FIR Number 91/2021 under Section 3/4/5 Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Janipur and investigation started.
The shopkeeper and gamblers were arrested by SHO Janipur Inspector Nayat Ali under the supervision of SDPO West Rahul Nagar and SP City Mohita Sharma.
However, while investigation a case registered under FIR Number 51/2021 under Section 379 IPC was registered, a special team from Police Station Bakshi Nagar led by SHO Inspector Ravi Kant was constituted under the supervision of SDPO City West Rahul Nagar.
The team after strenuous efforts and with the help of technical assistance arrested two thieves, who were identified as Sahiba Massi, son of Nayamat Massi of Pargwal Taran Taran Punjab and Raja Singh, son of Darbar Singh of Taran Taran Punjab. On their disclosure, stolen bikes bearing registration numbers PB06AD-3182 and JK02W-4742 were recovered.
It is pertinent to mention that accused used to steal the bikes and later sell them at cheaper rates to people.
Further questioning of the arrested thieves is going on to ascertain their involvement in other cases.
