SAMBA, Apr 17: Police today arrested two bootleggers including a shopkeeper for selling illicit liquor.
A police spokesman said that, a police team from Ramgarh police station headed by Inspector Mushtaq Ahmed conducted a raid in a shop and recovered 39 pouches of illicit liquor which the accused was selling on exorbitant rates.
The shopkeeper namely Yash Pal, son of Chaman Lal of Raika Labana, Ramgarh was arrested.
A case under FIR number 24/14 under Section 48 Excise Act has been registered at police station Ramgarh and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police team from Samba police station led by Inspector Ravinder Singh during naka checking at Parel on the Sumb road intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number PB06J-4863.
During checking, police recovered 24 bottles of illicit liquor and arrested the bootlegger, who has been identified as Manjeet Singh, son of Suram Singh of Patyari, Sumb, district Samba.
A case under FIR number 61/14 under Section 48 Excise Act has been registered at police station Samba and investigation into the case is going on.
The arrest was made under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SP Samba.
