SHOPIAN, Oct 24: In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Shopian Police arrested a drug peddler and seized charas-like substance weighing around 1.48 kilograms during routine checking within the jurisdiction of Police Station Imamsahib.
According to officials, a police team conducting naka checking at Narwani-Amerbug crossing noticed a person moving suspiciously. The individual was tactfully apprehended, and a search led to the recovery of the contraband substance.
The accused has been identified as Aijaz Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Moman Danjipora, Bijbehara. Police have registered a case under FIR No. 32/2025 in accordance with relevant sections of the NDPS Act at Police Station Imamsahib. An investigation has been launched to trace the forward and backward linkages of the accused and to identify others involved in the drug network.
