JAMMU, June 4: A shop gutted in fire at Bahu Fort area here on the intervening night of June 3-4.
A blaze erupted in the store of one Darshan Lal son of Kaka Ram of Kaccha Tallab, Bahu Fort area, who sells religious goods to the devotees of Shri Bawe Wali Mata, between 1:30 to 2 AM, a police official said.
After getting information, a team of fire brigade and local police reached at the spot to contain the flames, he said.
“But by the time the blaze was contained, goods worth approximately Rs 5.5 lakh had been reduced to ashes,” he said.
The shopkeepers of the area have requested the DC Jammu to compensate the owner for the losses. Meanwhile, police have started investigation into the matter.
