RAJOURI, May 22: A massive fire broke out in a shoe shop near Jhula Bridge in Rajouri town late Wednesday night, causing extensive damage and an estimated loss of property worth over Rs 10 lakhs.

By the time the owner reached the spot, the fire had engulfed the shop’s inventory. Fire & Emergency Services personnel arrived shortly there and managed to bring the blaze under control, preventing it from spreading to the adjacent shops and averting a potential disaster.
“All the goods in the shop were reduced to ashes,” Sharma said. “I’ve suffered a loss of over Rs 10 lakh,” he added.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. As of now, the cause of fire remains unknown.
