JAMMU, Feb 9: In connection with the Prakash Divas of Guru Ravi Das Ji Maharaj, an impressive Shobha Yatra of the great Guru was taken out in Jammu City by the community members today.
A large number of members of the Scheduled Caste community and others assembled at the Temple of Guru Ravi Dass Ji and Sabha complex at Krishna Nagar on Canal Road, Jammu in the morning at around 10.30 am and offered special prayers. Several vehicles and tractor trolleys were decorated for the Jhanki/ Shobha Yatra of Guru Ravi Das Ji Maharaj.
Led by the members of the Adhoc Committee of the Sabha including Prof C L Shivgotra and Er Ramesh Bhasin besides others, the Shobha Yatra started from Krishna Nagar Sabha Bhawan at around 11.30 am on Sunday and after passing through Jewel Chowk, Gumat, Indira Chowk, Shalamar Road, Raghunath Bazaar and various other City roads finally culminated at Bahu Fort, Guru Ravi Das Temple at around 5 pm in the evening.
A large number of women and children of the community also participated in the Shobha Yatra. They were chanting religious slogans in the praise of Ruru Ravi Dass Ji Maharaj. The police was also deployed with the Shobha Yatra, sensing possible clash between the two groups on this occasion. However, the religious procession was taken out peacefully in the City.
At Bahu Fort Temple, the Shobha Yatra was received by Minister for PHE and Forest, Javed Rana, NC’s Provincial president Rattan Lal Gupta, MLA Ramnagar Sunil Bhardwaj and Chairman SC Cell of the National Conference, Vijay Lochan. The main function will be held on Feb 12 at Krishna Nagar, Sabha Bhawan.
Besides, Javed Rana, R L Gupta and Vijay Lochan also addressed the gathering and threw light on the teachings of the great Guru. They said teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji of equality and brotherhood are more relevant today.
