JAMMU, Oct 27: The Shiv Sena (UBT) Jammu and Kashmir unit today expressed strong resentment over the continued delay in starting the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar.
They also urged the Railway Department to immediately commence train services (DMU/Vande Bharat) on this crucial route.
In this regard a party delegation led by state president Manish Sahni met Anchit Singhal, senior DCM (Jammu) and submitted a memorandum addressed to the Railway Minister, pressing for the early resumption of Vande Bharat and DMU services between Jammu and Srinagar.
Speaking on the occasion, Sahni said that the wait for the train service has become unreasonably long, despite repeated assurances.
He reminded that when the Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar was launched on June 6, the Railway Ministry had announced plans to operate the Vande Bharat Express between Jammu and Srinagar from September. However, even after two months, the service has not started.
Expressing disappointment, Sahni noted that while train services are operational between Jammu-Katra and Katra-Srinagar, passengers continue to wait endlessly for the direct Jammu-Srinagar connection.
He also criticized the silence of both Members of Parliament from the Jammu division, saying that despite belonging to the ruling party at the Centre, they have failed to raise the issue effectively.
Among those present on the occasion were Sanjeev Kohli (working president) and Vikas Bakshi (General Secretary) of the party.
