JAMMU, Dec 15: Activists of Shiv Sena UBT here today staged a protest demonstration under the leadership of their president, Manish Sahni demanding separate State for Jammu.
The protesters were holding placards with anti-discrimination slogans.
Speaking on the occasion Sahni said that talent of players from Jammu has been ignored in the selection process for Santosh Trophy.
“How is it possible that the selectors did not even find a single player capable from the 74 players participating from 10 districts of the Jammu division, while 20 players were selected from the 24 players of Kashmir,” he questioned.
The Shiv Sena leader said: “Earlier our rights were not ensured in admissions to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College, and now, in sports as well, the youth of Jammu have been sidelined.”
He said if the government failed to change its attitude towards Jammu then they will be forced to raise the demand for separate Jammu State.
Meenakshi Chibber, Vikas Bakshi, Sanjeev Kohli, Balwant Singh, Raj Singh, Raju Kapoor, Aditya Mahajan, Shashipal, Deeraj Kohli and many others were also present in the protest.
