Shiv Sena questions delay in relief announcement

JAMMU, Aug 31: Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit has questioned the delay in announcing the relief package by the Central Government to the people affected by the horrific rains, landslides and cloudburst in Jammu division and flayed the delay in repairing bridges and roads and improving electricity and water supply.
In a press conference here today Shiv Sena J&K chief, Manish Sahni said that the natural disasters has caused a large scale destruction in Jammu division but despite instructions by CM Omar Abdullah to top officials for immediate relief, proper relief is not reaching the ground level.
He said that in Jammu city and adjoining areas people have suffered huge economic and infrastructure losses due to devastating rains due to which some areas are not getting electricity and water supply and people have to depend on water tankers and candles.
“The devastating rains till now has killed about 140-150 people and hundreds are forced to spend day and night with their families in tents, Government schools and public places,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained demanding immediate repair of the damaged infrastructure.
