JAMMU, Dec 11: The J&K unit of Shiv Sena (Bala Sahib Thackrey) today blamed the Government for deliberately delaying panchayat elections in the State.
While addressing the media persons at RS Pura, State president of Shiv Sena, Dimpy Kohli and general secretary, Manish Sahni, said that the Coalition Government of PDP and BJP is deliberately delaying the panchayat elections considering their defeat.
Kohli said that BJP leaders have lost their ‘Janadhar’ and they know their defeat very well. This is very unfortunate that even after more than a decade, the present Government is reluctant to hold panchayat elections.
Manish Sahni said that it is very surprising despite demand from opposition parties and directions from Governor N N Vohra, ruling parties trying to delay it on various grounds like budget session and security measures. He appealed the Government to announce the panchayat elections at the earliest, which will help to restore democracy at the ground level.
He further disclosed that they have constituted a five-member committee which will visit various panchayats and will select the suitable candidates for panchayat elections.
