JAMMU, Mar 17: The J&K unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has claimed that Panchayat elections without fresh census and transparent delimitation would be unjust for the democratic processes.
Addressing a press conference here today, Shiv Sena J&K president, Manish Sahni said that any attempt to allow non-local individuals to become voters or candidates in the Urban Local Body elections will be opposed.
He claimed that the administration is preparing for the LB elections based on the 2011 census data which is not justified.
The Shiv Sena leader emphasized that fair reservation for Other Backward Classes can only be ensured if the administration has updated the accurate population data.
He asserted that only domicile voters have the right to vote and contest, as LBs primarily belong to the native of J&K.
“First conduct fresh census and then hold elections,” Sahni demanded.
Sanjeev Kohli, Raj Singh, Sanjay Bhatt, Aditya Mahajan and Raju Chaudhary were also present on the occasion.
