JAMMU, Feb 7: Activists of Shiv Sena (UBT) J&K unit here today staged a protest demonstration demanding political empowerment of Jammu region.
The protest was led by Manish Sahni, Shiv Sena J&K unit president and he said that discrimination with Jammu needs a permanent solution.
The protesters were holding placards with slogans like ‘Will take our rights by fighting’ etc written on them.
“Power-hungry leaders have started experimenting division between Jammu and Kashmir and attempts are being made to increase mutual distances on regional and political grounds,” said Manish Sahni adding that the demand for a separate Jammu is being fuelled to divert attention from real issues like the return of PoJK, Statehood and restoration of special privileges.
He claimed that Jammu leaders always remained junior partners of regional parties of Kashmir and political empowerment of Jammu was never demanded though the geographical area of Jammu is almost double to that of Kashmir and population of Jammu division has also increased significantly in the last few decades.
“Still out of 90 Assembly seats, Jammu division has only 43 while Kashmir has 47,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained.
Sanjeev Kohli, Raj Singh, Raju Chaudhary, Aditya Mahajan, Shashipal, Raghubir Singh, Shan Goswami, Vinay Kumar and many others were also present in the protest.
