JAMMU, Mar 20: J&K unit of Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) has demanded the establishment of a Film City in Jammu.
Speaking at a function here today while unveiling posters of short films ‘Warrior Devyani’ and ‘Nasha 370’, Manish Sahni, J&K Shiv Sena president said that J&K is not just known for its scenic beauty but it is also a land of immense talent, passion and extraordinary creativity and the artists from this region are still searching a platform to showcase their talent.
“While the government is making big claims of development, the ground reality is that thousands of artists in Jammu continue to struggle due to lack of resources and opportunities,” he maintained emphasising that the proposed Film City would not merely be an infrastructure project but also a hub to fulfil the dreams of Jammu’s youth as it would provide recognition to the local talent and will generate employment opportunities apart from giving J&K a new identity at national and international level.
Sahni said that there is also an urgent need to launch a 24×7 ‘Duggar Channel’ to promote Dogri language, culture and art of the Jammu region, ensuring continuous and meaningful opportunities for local talent.
Producers and directors of films Akshay Kumar, Shalu Singh, Vishal Mangotra, Harpreet Singh, Jiya Kashyap, Tania Devi and Pawan Sharma were also present on the occasion.
