KATRA, Nov. 21: Former president, Hotel and Restaurant Association, Katra, Shiv Kumar Sharma made an appeal to Sarmad Hafeez, Commissioner cum Secretary, Tourism and Culture, J&K UT and Deputy Commissioner, Reasi Indu Kanwal Chib regarding utilizing of funds of Rs. 50 crore allocated under the scheme PRASAD and emphasized the need of utilization of the same in the planned manner for beautification of holy Town Katra, so that flow of yatra is increased and could attract pilgrims to have a longer stay there.
Sharma has suggested some important work for effective utilization of the funds. He demanded
Fountain Chowk at main entrance and heart of Katra town needs to be developed on the pattern of Times Square, New York, USA and Ridge ground at Shimla. This spot will definitely attract pilgrims and they will stay long in the town resulting into the growth of economy of the Holy town Katra and its out skirts.
Designing of Katra Main Bazaar which is also an attraction of yatris is very old demand and it needs to be developed on the pattern of Raghunath Bazar, Jammu so that it could attract pilgrims for marketing.
Light and sound system needs to be installed in the holy Town on the history of Mata Vaishnodevi.
There is a basic need of a common sewerage and garbage plant at Katra town for which funds need to be allocated and work started immediately.
Shiv Kumar Sharma has further complimented Raj Kumar Katoch, Director, Tourism Jammu for releasing pending dues of various committees at Katra on account of Navratra Festival 2019.
