JAMMU, Dec 8: Jammu Kashmir Sharnarthi Action Committee (JKSAC) has urged the State Government to prepare a road map within three months taking into account all the issues pertaining to Central as well as State Government for one time settlement of Displaced Persons so that relief compensation could be calculated and disbursed in one go along with other benefits to end their seven decades old sufferings.
While addressing media persons, SAC president Gurdev Singh welcomed a news coming from the Government sources that Rs 2000 crore is only a part of relief compensation, but not full and final settlement. He termed it very good gesture from the Government but added that if the Government’s intensions are clear, then why it hesitates to decide the adequate quantum of relief compensation and its simultaneous disbursement in one go instead of piece meal.
He reiterated that a road map be prepared separately for each category and quantum of relief compensation be calculated taking into account loss of lives and properties suffered by each category of DPs.
He also expressed anguish over overlooking the most significant component of package of reservation for wards of DPs in Central Government services and Technical institutions as was recommended by previous State Government and the JPC.
Apart from other recommendations of JPC he reiterated the demand for inclusion of left over 5200 bonafide families in the package settled outside the State. He added that there were apprehensions that they may take legal course to get justice and if so happens the whole process of disbursement would be stalled.
A body for Jammu district was nominated with Dwarka Nath as president, Nirmal Singh Kranti as vice president and Balbir Singh ‘Ajit’ as secretary.
Others present  were Master Yograj, Mukesh Sharma, Rajesh Khajuria, Harbans Singh, Makhan Singh, Harjeet Singh, Madan Lal, Makhan Lal, Santokh Singh and Mohinder Singh Khalsa.
