JAMMU, Dec 11: The Union Government today extended the Central deputation of 2012 batch AGMUT cadre IAS officer Amit Sharma, who is currently serving as Director Census Operations and Director Citizen Registration for Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.

As per an official memorandum issued today by the Department of Personnel and Training, his tenure, which was earlier ending on December 31, 2025, will now continue till March 31, 2030.
“This period is further extendable upto admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme,” read the official memorandum.
Sharma recently joined the Office of the Registrar General and Census Commissioner of India in November at the Director level.
He will play a key role in conducting the country’s first fully digital and paperless Census, which will also cover his home region.
